It is said that at night, when the dwarves sleep, Swarnigul
will rise from her bed to visit each one of her children.
She will marvel at their accomplished tasks of a labourous
day, and those who toil the hardest throughout a day will
not seldom have a fading memory of her gentle lips on their
brow.
Then she will pass through the mines, probing the rocks
with her fingertips, and where she walks the very rocks
strive to please her, forming beautiful gems in her wake,
to be found by her children during their long days of
work.
Each dwarf thinks with fondness and longing of his heavenly
mother, and he sleeps at night with confidence in his home
under her mountains, close to her hearth fire.
OOC - OUT OF CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE
Swarnigul is one of the major gods. She was created by AO and
she is the mother of the dwarves. The fire that warms the
earth from below is her home.
Fire is an element of life. In the beginning, there was only
darkness. And the dwarves were cold and afraid in the dark.
But then, Swarnigul gave them fire, and they could warm
themselves and see in the night. And in the fire they
prepared their food and it helped them to drive away their
enemies. And they learned to use the fire to create tools
and weapons. Fire is the friend of the people. Those who
disregard it, will burn themselves, but those who use it
with care will have the benefits.
In the non-dwarven population Swarnigul is mostly seen as
god of craftsmanship and mainly smiths. For the dwarves
however Swarnigul represents the main goddess, nearly to an
extent of being the only god. She represents the fire that
makes living underground possible.
Within the world people see how fiercely Swarnigul protects
her children. Her followers often seek only to live a
peaceful life, yet they will fight anyone who tries to
take it from them and their brothers. In the struggle of
"good" and "evil" she is often counted to the "good"
side.
Among the Pantheon
Swarnigul is regarded as neutral.
