The Younger gods>
First-born son of Tharandil and Dualdin was Equisacitus; the archer, Lord of Horses
and Father of the Centaur Race. He is alternately depicted as a youth on horseback,
half-turned and firing a bow and as a centaur himself, bearded and solemn with great
chestnut flanks heaving as if after strenuous exercise.
A daughter of Tharandil and Dualdin and without malice, for she was born of other,
wilder and more truthful natures was Widarlon; the giver of gifts and bringer of that
which is desired and that which is not, Lady of Love, of Pleasure and Wine and of Blessed
Sleep and Forgetfulness. She is often depicted as a beautiful maiden, dancing, all trailed
about with vines that entwine her figure and holding an overflowing cup in one hand,
surrounded by musicians.
Of Calric and Widarlon, met once only in the bower of Widarlon when Calric became
over-wrought through wine, infatuated with Widarlon came their issue Barateus; the
light-fingered, the fortunate, Patron of Traders and Lord of Truth and Lies. He is most
often depicted as a slender youth with wild eyes, often carrying a pipe and shepherd's
staff he is thought of all the gods to visit Xyllomer in this mean guise.
Son of Xylion and Tirichron, born of their love was Salvunascir; the life-saver and the
life-bringer, Lord of Healing and of the Family and Patron of the good Harvest. He is
shown in many ways, many implicit.
He is seen to inhabit the healer as their work is carried out and a good healer is often
known as a son of Salvunascir. Seen also in the harvest and many farmers are seen to
reverently touch their brow passing a scarecrow in the fields and murmur his name ..
but as a god he is seen as a serious looking man, often bespectacled, in his thirties with
greying hair and a kindly smile. Although few worship him exclusively his name is
respected by almost all on the face of Xyllomer.
Among the mortals who walked upon the earth there were some still whose relations
to godhood were strong. Many of these were the direct child of a deity upon mortal
flesh and of these Akai-Kurushi was one. His mother was of great beauty, a princess
of the isle of Avalon, now sunken beneath the sea and in her bower she had a visitation
from Rokoon.
Upon his mother falling pregnant the king her father deemed it to be a miracle.
For jealously she had been guarded in the palace by eunuchs both night and day
and in the eyes of the priests there were no signs upon her body that her maidenhood
had been broken. Thus her son was given unto the priesthood of Rokoon for the education
of his mind and trained in the arts of war by the masters of combat as befitted a prince.
It was not until he had reached the peak of his powers that he decided to travel alone seeking
knowledge before he took his place as godking. He spoke to people high and low, learning
more of the region he was then due to rule. It was upon these travels that he was ensnared
by the Old Ones and led upon the path that was to determine his future.
Before he became the consort of Tharandil, Dualdin concieved twin daughters and they
were born of a mortal mother, though their very birth was an act of death for her.
The first born was Koranishaxx; wild daughter of Dualdin, Lady of the Fire of Life and
of the Rebirth of Spring and her birth was indeed a wild one, then her twin sister
Xogenia; of the quiet death, shadowy daughter of Dualdin, Lady of LifeBlood and
Revenge. And her birth was a quiet one and her mother died of it silently.
These two were the first of the young gods to join with Akai-Kurushi in forming the
Honourable Guild of the Warshrikes. It was the sisters, pale-skinned both, flaming
haired Koranishaxx and dark Xogenia that chose the Lochabar Axes as weapons,
fearsome and swift against the slaves of the Old Ones, although the chosen weapon
of Xogenia was the longknife, swifter than the axes and deadly in the hands of the
lady of the shadows.
And seeking an alliance to make against those of his enemies who grew stronger.
Thus it was that Bhaal reached into his chest and took from his his heart, black and
shrivelled as it was and placed it into the ground. Whereupon it found life in the flesh
of Xylion and grew up at once. So it was that Bhaal spawned the warrior god Asgoth;
the swift and deadly, Lord of Death and Destruction in Battle.
And Bhaal had at once a brother and a son from the womb of his sister. The very skin
of Asgoth was black and hard as the heart of Bhaal, forming a carapace of ornate armour
about his body and leaving only his head bare. His skin was the dark skin of a drow and
his eyes red, yet his hair was long and white, bound back from his face. In his hands
he bore a huge axe and upon his back the paired swords, long and short that were to
bring many to his feet on the fields of war.
Yet Asgoth was slaved by the bond of his heart unto Bhaal and was the instrument
of his will alone. It became that Asgoth went unto Huitzilopochtli and asked him how
he should win his freedom from Bhaal, and Huitzilopochtli spoke: "Give unto me
what I ask and ye shall be free of the control of thy brother." And Asgoth agreed
to this demand.
The taking the sacrificial knife, Huitzilopochtli bent Asgoth over his altar and cut from
his chest the heart of Bhaal and held it high and spoke: "Now thou art free from
Bhaal and thou shalt rise again heartless from this place and I shall keep the heart
of Bhaal and he shall fear me!" And thus Asgoth became free of his brother Bhaal
and his actions became his own.
Final member of the quintet that comprises the Warshrike gods is Oosama.
He is without title and also without history. It is the belief of many that he is
none-other than Moran and others say he is a mortal disciple of Akai-Kurushi
who overcame the barrier between Gods and men to attain immortality. Yet
truly none can say except himself and he does not.
He is most often shown in golden armour and of a huge height and though he took
no title, he is known to be the mysterious, Lord of Bravery and Honour in Battle.
And to his followers also as the Patron of Laughter in the face of Death and Defeat.
