Basic commands

If you remember back to text-based adventure games, you will realise that you already know many of the commands that you will need for Xyllomer. Movement, taking items and looking at them and at the world around you on Xyllomer use pretty generic commands that most people find intuitive, even if they are not familiar. Just for reference I will go over these now.

The look command will show you what your character can see around them. If it is dark and the character belongs to one of the races that does not have nightsight, this will not be very much. There are a number of items in the game that shed light, some of which will not be destroyed by the reboot of the game that happens daily, called Armageddon.
In the description of a room you may see something of interest. In many rooms, objects of interest may be examined or looked at. In fact in many cases examining these objects will lead you to other hidden areas or to hidden items.
The other type of thing that you can examine or look at is an item. By this I mean a weapon, a piece of armour or one of the many other things that you can pick up and carry around with you. It is unlikely, although not impossible, that this will lead you to something hidden .. but in the case of weapons or armour it will enable you to find out just how in need or repair they are.

to look around:
to examine an item:
l or look
exa or examine <item>
la or look at <item>

The commands for getting and dropping are pretty straight forward. However, all items that you can wear not only have their own name, but the name armour. If you: get armour, you will get the last single piece of armour that entered the room, but is not held by someone else. If you type: get armours, you will try and pick up all armours.
The same is true of weapons, although here it is more likely to cause problems. For example, if there is a two handed sword lying in a room and you type get sword, if there is one, you may find yourself with another sword that entered the room more recently. For this reason it is sensible, if you want to do something with a specific item, to refer to that item by it's full name.

to get everything:
to drop everything:
to get an item:
to drop an item:
to see what you carry:
get or take all
drop all
get or take <item>
drop <item>
i or inventory

This is pretty simple. Your character will need to move around the world and most of the options will be given as compass directions. Sometimes you will find exits such as northwest or northwestup given. Either typing the full string or the shortcut: nw or nwu would allow you to take that exit.
Internal exits sometimes have different names again. In these cases, usually the only option is to type the full string. Examples include: enter, exit, out, stairs and the notorious fleeout. Find out about fleeout before you go to the Cloud Islands.
Other times you may need to move in a particular way to take an exit. Exits of this type are often not announced, just hinted at in the description of the room. Examples of this include: climb tree, jump canyon or even jump over canyon. In some old rooms on the MUD the syntax might be very specific.

to move north:
to move south:
to move east:
to move west:
to move up:
to move down:
n or north
s or south
e or east
w or west
u or up
d or down

The command: skills is used to view the skills that you have and will also give you a description of your compentence in those skills.

There is a separate section on armours and the commands that you will need to be able to wear and remove armours. Also explained here is the system by which armours may be layered. To view this information now, go to the armours section.
