Tharandil

IC - IN CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE

Theme: Goddess of Centaurs, Fairies, Air, Fertility and Healing.

Symbol: hand holding a sapling, seeds or ears of grain, tree on brown ground
Holy Plant: artsa, enadras
Colours: brown and blue
Temples: Atlanta and Grasslands

In the hands of the gardener, behind the face of the healer, in the lap of the mother, day by day you find her touch to the land, her soothing hand on the pains and sores of her children. Her eyes lighten at the laughter of a fairy, and a tear of sorrow graces her cheek at the sight of a centaur, lost in longing glances over a lush meadow, eager to hear the trampling hooves of a youngling foal.

Tharandil is as close to us as we are to the land, the life and the world. She will aid in our toil and comfort our pains, but ever will she push us to further ourselves and bring new life to the world.

OOC - OUT OF CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE

Created by AO at the beginning of time, Tharandil is one of the major gods. She is a goddess of nature. Plants and animals are considered to be under her protection. Life and fertility as well as growth are considered her aspects. She is a peacful goddess, to whom the perservation of life is paramount.
Most Centaurs and Fairies hold Tharandil in high regard.

The humans were such a bland race to occupy Xyllomer all for themselves, so Tharandil created both Fairies and Centaurs. Sadly, it took the extinction of the centaurs (they have become infertile, and bear no more offspring), for the fairies to realize the importance of Tharandil's teachings about fertility and healing.

Among non-fairy or non-centaur folk, Tharandil's blessings usually are prayed for in light of a good harvest and matters of birth. Her status is acknowledged, but often cursed if either mother or baby die during birth. Fairies and Centaurs however view her as incredibly important in their lives, having experienced the loss of childbirth among centaurs.

Within the world many count Tharandil among the truly neutral gods, yet her strong love for nature makes her a most fierce enemy of those who seek to destroy it, which is percieved as a tendency to the "good" side.

Among the Pantheon Tharandil is regarded as neutral.
