OOC - OUT OF CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE
The Lesser Gods have no influence over the happenings in
the world today, for they have no followers in the world,
and the have no wish to partake in the ongoing struggle. A
few of the Lesser Gods used to be important in the world
in the distant past, but today they have faded from the
memory of the populace.
None of the Lesser Gods can be worshipped in the game since
there are no shrines nor any other code support for them
implemented. However mention of them might be found in
the one or other place while you travel through the world.
The First-born son of Tharandil and Dualdin was Equisacitus,
the archer, Lord of Horses and the first of the Centaur
Race. He is alternately depicted as a youth on horseback,
half-turned and firing a bow and as a centaur himself,
bearded and solemn with great chestnut flanks heaving as if
after strenuous exercise. Today his memory is lost to most,
only a few of the centaurs still remember him.
To Calric and Widarlon, who is also known as Selyra, was
born the son Barateus, the light-fingered, the fortunate,
Patron of Traders and Lord of Truth and Lies. He is most
often depicted as a slender youth with wild eyes, often
carrying a pipe and shepherd's staff which he used as
disguise to visit Xyllomer in the distant past. Today
only priests of Calric or Selyra may have knowledge of
this vivid offspring.
Son of a mortal woman, sometimes referred to as Xylion, the
representation of the world and of Xan, was Salvunascir,
the life-saver and the life-bringer, Lord of Healing and of
the Family and Patron of the good Harvest. He is shown in
many ways, many implicit.
He was seen to inhabit the healers as their work is carried
out and a good healer was often known as a son of
Salvunascir.
Also, during the harvest many farmers are seen to reverently
touch their brow passing a scarecrow in the fields. They
have forgotten why, but it used to be one of his forms.
As a god he appeared as a serious looking man, often
bespectacled, in his thirties with greying hair and a kindly
smile. Although few worshiped him exclusively his name was
respected by almost all on the face of Xyllomer.
Today neither Salvunascir, nor Xan, nor the personified
world Xylion are remembered much at all.
