Bhaal

IC - IN CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE

Theme: God of Chaos, Corruption, Unlife and Necromancy.

Symbol: Doublecross turned upside down (archaic form), the doublecross turned upside down, with split lower end (modern form)
(OOC: looks like a turned over 'yen' symbol)
Holy Plant: belladonna
Colours: red, black
Temples: not publicly known

A cloak of mystery and horror lies around his cult. Bhaal: Few dare utter his true name, they call him rather the Nameless One, or the Great Demon, or other names. Legends have it he created the moon and hurled it at Xyllomer to destroy what Rokoon had made. And the weak of spirit believe that if he ever truly manifests himself in the world, it would have been better for all souls not already his if he had not missed.

Rumours and stories of all kinds connect Bhaal with the dark art of necromancy, some implying that Bhaal is its creator, others that he merely brought it into Xyllomer as a terrible gift to his faithful followers and as a scourge to the world. Whatever the true source of necromancy may be, the cult of Bhaal guards this dark knowledge jealously, and those who possess it rarely choose pupils to pass it on, but revel in its power.

Shrouded in the darkness of the night, his followers meet in secret to worship, or plot and scheme for the destruction of the current world order, to assume rule and enslave it under his will. Vile demonic creatures summoned from the lower planes of Bhaal's creation and corpses driven into undeath by evil forces rise from the ground to terrorize the living, cruel forebears of unimaginably worse nightmares to come should they ever succeed ...

OOC - OUT OF CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE

Bhaal is one of the Major Gods. He was created by AO, but while the other gods worked in the creation of the world, Bhaal could not bring forth own creations. In his jealousy he corrupted the creations of the other gods.

Thus Bhaal is the antithesis of all other gods. His only goal is the destruction of what the other gods have created. While Xyllomer was created his goal was to disrupt the process wherever possible. Creations like undead, orcs, trolls, knowing nothing but death and destruction are his work.

His followers believe that Bhaal wants to take over the world and rule it. Followers are then supposed to be his trusted lords to govern Xyllomer for him. Their goal is to disturb the normal life wherever possible, to undermine civilization, and bring chaos to the world to ease the taking over of the 'faithful ones'. This can be done by open warfare or by subtle methods.

For the followers of the pantheon and Huitzilopochtli, Bhaal is the common enemy. Even the most fanatic followers of Huitzilopochtli and Rokoon have been seen to end their struggles to fight a necromancer side by side (and of course to turn against each other the very second the danger was taken care of).

Within the world all people who are not aligned with Bhaal fear him as the evil demon he is.

Among the Pantheon Bhaal is regarded as evil.
