AO - The Creator
Commonly acknowledged by almost everyone as fact is that AO
is father to the gods. Beyond this little is known about
him, although there is much speculation and many theories
about his origins, few claim to know anything for certain.
Perhaps the most popular theory is that he was the first.
Before everything there was AO and his was the only
existence. Out of his consciousness grew the recognition of
self and the concept of un-self and this concept he explored
for an eternity.
At the conclusion of his thoughts, AO created form to
illustrate the concept. And with the creation of form he
created space; the space not inhabited by the form and the
space between forms. And thus AO came upon the concept of
movement, from the placing of one form as it changed in its
relation to another. With movement came the illustration of
the eternities that passed, each marked by the differences
in relations between the forms that moved together and
apart.
And from out of the awareness of the movement of forms over
time came the concept time, the measurement of eternity.
Immeasurable time passed and AO explored the possibilities
inherent within his creations, the boundaries of his
discovery. In time AO became curious and observing the
limits of the reality he had created, he desired to study
others within its bounds. Thus is was that AO came to bring
forth from creation his first offspring:
Rokoon,
Tharandil and Bhaal.
Another theory, held to be heretic by many, is that the
ancestors of the gods are the much feared Old Ones.
According to this theory AO is the offspring of the being
many fear even to name, whose face is no face, but a mass of
tentacles, whose breath carries the perfume of death: the
Lord of the Past and of the Future, of all that lies beyond
Death.
AO took on the mantle of Lord of the Present and rose to
become more powerful than his ancestors. His pride in his
hideous appearance chose others, similarly mutilated by fate
with whom to mate. The offspring of these copulations were
his children: Rokoon, Tharandil and Bhaal.

OOC - OUT OF CHARACTER - KNOWLEDGE
The first being was AO, sometimes also known as AI. He
created the 'Major Gods': Bhaal, Calric, Dualdin,
Huitzilopochtli, Orades, Rokoon, Saran, Swarnigul,
Tharandil, Triton and Xan. To each he gave each his own
task, some were told to create a place, a world which would
serve for the other creations, and others were given the
task to fill this world with their creations.
Triton as well as Xan however have faded from the face
of the world and they are no longer counted among the
Major Gods. While Xan has vanished alltogether, Triton
is only accounted for as a Minor God nowadays.
While the Major Gods worked on their creations a war
broke out among them when Bhaal, envious of the creations
of his brothers, and unable to bring forth anything on his
own, did his best to destroy what the others wrought.
After a while AO stopped the ongoing war of creation and
destruction and told the gods to leave the world. They
could still channel a small portion of their power through
their faithful followers in Xyllomer, but they can no
longer take on physical form, nor use their full power on
the world, nor can they interfere directly with the
world.
Among the Pantheon
AO is regarded as the father of the gods.
