Clouds

The Clouds Islands get their name from the permanent cap of clouds that surrounds their tops. They are situated to the south of the continent of Primordia. Almost due south from the domain of Lake they can be seen on a clear day from the mainland.

The only sea port of these unwelcoming rocks is in Cloud Bottom on the largest of the islands. The public shipping routes can be seen to the below.

The weather in the dirty harbour town consists almost wholy of biting sea winds and an almost permanent rain which has taken its toll on the energy and attitude of its inhabitants.

From the sleezy town of Cloud Bottom you can walk inland and up a mountain path to the city of Silverling, protected on all sides by thick walls to keep out invaders. Care must be taken along the path as a wrong turn could lead into a deadly bandit ambush or to the kingdom of the Cloud Giants .. another potentially lethal area.

Silverlining itself is the hub of the Cloud Islands transport system. From here it is possible to get a skyclipper to any of the other islands and in fact back to the port at Cloud Bottom. The table of public skyclipper routes is shown below.

In the city are many shops and several training grounds, along with a livery stable and a number of private homes.

The city is also home to: The order of the Warshrikes. A fighter guild made up from the followers of five different gods, two good, two evil and one neutral, dedicated to protecting the world from the incursions of the Old Ones. They are a wild guild and often misunderstood, due to the fact that they rip the hearts from their fallen enemies and dedicate them to their gods at the temples located under their guild.

Also in Silverlining is a second guild home of the Atlantis Mages. The magic potential here is so poor that this is the only location with sufficient magic potential that they can locate it well enough to teleport to.

Solstace is another large cloud city. It can be reached only by skyclipper and has few shops and just one inn. Despite its size it is little visited by adventurers, as with a few exceptions there is little excitement to be had here. The one thing that does bring outsiders is the master alchemist living above the co-op in the town who can make replacements for lost limbs.

Foray is a small town also only reachable by skyclipper. There are a few shops here and a small graveyard, but little else of note that attracts adventurers more than once or twice.

The last of the cloud towns is Kasperitis. Again this small hamlet can only be reached by skyclipper. A small band of thieves live here and there are rumours of an invasion force based here making ready to move against Silverlining .. but none of this has ever come to much. An inn, a trader named Cheato and the leper colony are rarely enough to attract travellers, although occasionally someone will be asked to come and retrieve something from the thieves.
